Commentary

Credit where it's due: the atmospheric composition is solid. The mushroom cloud has that sickly orange glow bleeding into the water, the silhouetted naval vessels create a convincing sense of scale, and the color grading evokes vintage Kodachrome test footage from Bikini Atoll. At a scroll-speed glance, this could pass for a colorized historical photograph or a still from a prestige war film. But look at those ships. The vessel on the left has a mast structure that dissolves into geometric confusion — antennae that connect to nothing, a bridge that seems to phase through itself. The center ship is a featureless dark mass with no discernible deck equipment despite being close enough to show detail. And those three perfectly parallel light streaks emanating from the mushroom cloud? No atmospheric phenomenon or debris pattern produces ruler-straight lines radiating outward like that. Real nuclear tests are messier, more chaotic. This has the compositional tidiness of something that learned "dramatic" without learning "physics."
