Stolen AI Thumnail
Commentary
YouTube's algorithm is now recommending AI thumbnails about AI-generated content, which feels appropriately dystopian. Both thumbnails here attempt that grimy industrial authenticity — warm tungsten lighting, workers in blue coveralls, the satisfying repetition of rifles on an assembly line. The top image almost sells it: the depth of field is competent, the color grading screams 'serious documentary about manufacturing.' But look closer at those AK-47s lined up so perfectly. The wooden furniture pieces blend into each other where they shouldn't, creating a kind of rifle centipede effect. The workers in the background have that telltale soft-focus anonymity — bodies present, faces conveniently obscured or smeared. The bottom thumbnail commits harder to the bit with dramatic welding sparks, but the welder's goggles sit on a face that seems to phase slightly out of alignment with his skull.
🔍 The Tell
The rifle stocks in the top image merge into a continuous wooden mass at their contact points, as if the guns are slowly absorbing each other.
